A Survey of U.S Adults’ Opinions about Conduct of a Nationwide Precision Medicine Initiative® Cohort Study of Genes and Environment

44 questions were asked of a population-based sample of US adults addressing the Precision Medicine Initiative cohort study to gather findings on their support and willingness to participate. Specific aspects of participation were described to the sample, as well as study oversight, participant involvement in governance, and the return of information to participants (Kaufman, et al).

The findings serve as an encouraging testament to the awareness and support for precision medicine: 79% support the proposed study and more than half said "they would definitely or probably participate if asked", the most important incentive being the receipt of and learning about their own health information.
