Vanderbilt, Google to Build Obama Precision Medicine Cohort

Announced in February 2016, the National Institutes of Health has given Vanderbilt, advised by Verily, a grant to build an online portal, wherein a 1-million strong cohort of volunteers is expected to outfit the portal with personalized health and genetic data for the purpose of developing more targeted precision medicines. The grant stems from President Obama's initial announcement of his Precision Health Initiative (January 2015), and is part of the $200 million total funding made available to the NIH for the study of personalized medicine.
